Ebony is a US Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over two decades of experience providing a foundation for her expertise in untangling the biochemical and neurobiological roots of ADHD, Autism, PMDD, and Perimenopause. She provides rare diagnostic depth for complex presentations—specifically identifying where complex diagnoses such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, or Personality Disorders may be overlaying undiagnosed neurodivergence or hormonal shifts. By blending 14 years of psychiatric prescribing with functional medicine and lived experience, Ebony helps patients move past masking and toward a life of systemic optimization. Neurodiversity: Lived Experience & Clinical Rigor Ebony’s clinical insight is amplified by her own identity as a person living with AuDHD. She experienced a childhood of being labeled a “troublemaker” and “difficult,” while always being at the top of her class academically. Her behaviour and academic prowess were later explained by an Autism diagnosis and easily visible as PDA (Pervasive Drive for Autonomy) on a simple genetic test. She has provided lifelong support to a father with Autism and a brother with severe ADHD. These experiences bring an unparalleled depth of empathy to her work. Leveraging this history, she founded Neurodiversity Ninjas to provide the high-integrity advocacy she wished she had access to. Our assessments go far beyond standard screening; we use a rigorous battery of psychometric tests, pathology and/or genetic testing results, and objective collateral to ensure a definitive diagnosis that serves as a specialist-ready roadmap for your future. The Neuro-Hormonal Link: PMDD & Perimenopause Ebony’s specialization in hormonal health was forged in the fire of her own health crisis. At 27, she was thrust into chemical menopause to treat endometriosis, experiencing a total cognitive and physical collapse that was brushed off as anxiety by many specialists until she saw an endocrinologist who recognised the post-menopausal symptom cluster. Twelve years later, with another 6 years of study and years of practise behind her, Ebony thought she would glide through menopause, as she knew how to treat it. She recognised the cluster of symptoms and knew what her pathology meant. With Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) results of 20-35, she visited numerous GPs, who told her she was "too young" to have perimenopause, and she was left untreated and heavily symptomatic until returning to the US. This dismissal fueled an obsessive commitment to mastering the science of the "Neuro-Hormonal" brain. Ebony has synthesised global clinical data, reading countless articles and books on her own time in addition to formalising her personal studies with professional qualifications: Australian Menopause Society (AMS) and Jean Hailes curricula US Menopause Specialist trainings (Heather Hirsch & Rachel Rubin) Functional Psychiatry certification in progress since July 2025 Certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapies course commenced February 2026 Complex Mental Health & Differential Diagnosis With 15 years of experience in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) recovery and a decade in Youth Mental Health (including inpatient and specialist outreach), Ebony is an expert at differential diagnosis. She witnessed firsthand in inpatient units how what was often termed "early-onset Bipolar" in young females was triggered by hormonal changes, and undiagnosed neurodivergence was aggravated by biological and environmental stress. By treating the system—not just the symptoms—with a combination of hormones, targeted nutrition plans, supplementation with amino acids and vitamins, and pharmacological management, she saw patients regain their stability. Treating holistically often resulted in minimal antipsychotic use, preventing metabolic issues and retaining self-esteem for the client.
